Do You Know That Apigenin Can Fight Aging?

Aging is defined as the gradual accumulation of damage over time, resulting in disruption of function at the cellular, tissue and organ levels. Ultimately, disease and death are caused by a complex multifactorial process involving genetic, endogenous and environmental factors. The consequences of human aging are mostly manifested in the skin, manifested as increased wrinkles, sagging, uneven texture and decreased elasticity. It is believed that aging skin has impaired barrier function and altered permeability, leading to dry skin and an increased risk of skin diseases. Understanding the mechanisms of skin aging is necessary to develop improved skin care products that slow this process and reduce the harmful effects of aging-inducing factors. So do you know that apigenin anti aging?

1. Do you know the apigenin anti aging?

Apigenin (4',5,7-trihydroxyflavonoid) is a member of the flavonoid subclass of flavonoids and is widely found in herbs, fruits and vegetables. Therefore, it is an important part of the human diet. It has been reported to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-cancer properties, and apigenin anti aging. Through research, we discovered the protective effect of apigenin on the skin, and found that in experiments using cells, apigenin restored the vitality of normal human skin fibroblasts (nHDF), which had been induced by Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation in UVA reduces range. Using the senescence-associated (SA)-β-gal assay, it was also demonstrated that apigenin can prevent UVA-induced senescence in nHDFs, so it can be said that apigenin anti aging. Furthermore, we found that apigenin decreased the expression of collagenase, matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-1, in UVA-irradiated nHDFs. UVA, previously identified as a photoaging-inducing factor, has been shown to induce MMP-1 expression.

2. The reasons for the apigenin anti aging

What are the causes of apigenin anti aging? High expression of MMP-1 damages the collagen matrix, resulting in loss of elasticity and dry skin. Therefore, the clinical efficacy of apigenin on aging skin was investigated by clinical application using an apigenin-containing cream. Specifically, dermal density, skin elasticity, and length of fine wrinkles were measured in subjects treated with apigenin cream or a control cream without apigenin. Additionally, studies have examined the effects of apigenin-containing creams on skin texture, moisture, and transepidermal water loss (TEWL). From these experiments, we found that apigenin-containing creams increased dermal density and elasticity and reduced the length of fine wrinkles. It also improves skin evenness, moisture content and TEWL. These results clearly demonstrate the biological role of apigenin, which is apigenin anti aging.
